Session
Descriptions
Green Office Action Plan:
Baselines,
Goals, Benefits and Savings
Successful
green office programs start with a plan and keep track of the impact
they make
on the organization, the budget and the environment.
This session will help you create your own
Green Office Action Plan and will feature two case studies of
organizations
that developed and implemented theirs.
Cutting Costs and Cutting
Carbon
The
term
“carbon footprint” is all over the media these days.
This session will demystify the term, review
activities that impact your organization’s carbon footprint and then
show you
ways to “tread lightly” while saving money in the process.
Zero Waste: Tools to Make
it Happen
in Your Office
The
goal of
zero waste seems outright crazy, but if you are not for zero waste… how
much
waste are you for? Come learn about what
zero waste really means and which zero waste strategies can help you
not only
reduce waste but also save time and money. This
session will also feature a case study of
an organization that put
these principles to work and achieved impressive results.
Telecommuting and
Commuter-Friendly
Office
Studies
show that more and more people telecommute each year, but serious
questions
remain: How do you know that your staff is actually working? Does telecommuting require additional
processes
and equipment? Is it really worth the
trouble? The session will answer these
practical
questions and will present a case study of a company that saved big
bucks by
asking some employees to work from home.
Green Purchasing: Beyond
the Basics
It
is easy
to start buying “green” – switch to recycled-content post-its, buy
efficient light
bulbs… but soon enough questions will come up. Are
more expensive “green” products “greener?” How
can I not fall victim to false
environmental
claims made by product manufacturers? What
is better – recycled-content paper or
paper from
sustainably-harvested forests? A panel
of experts will address these topics and will take tough questions from
the
audience.
Green Teams and Their Projects
Enough
theory, let’s talk about things that folks actually did!
Get energized and inspired by listening to
representatives
of “green teams” talk about things they accomplished.
Learn from their mistakes and get ideas for
things you can do in your office.
Building Green Value:
Communicating
with Your Customers
This
final
panel discussion is all about taking your green story and sharing it
with your
customers and constituents. What are the
best ways to deliver this message? How
can this help retain existing customers and gain new ones?
Talk to the panel of experts and find ways to
build your organization’s green value.
